The law of Jante was formulated by Aksel Sandemose in his book "A refugie crosses his path", Oslo 1962.

You shall not:
Believe that you are something
Believe that you are as important as us
Believe that you are wiser than us
Imagine yourself that you are better than us
Believe that you know more than us
Believe that you more important than us
Believe that you are capable of anything
Laugh/smile because of us
Believe that anybody cares about you
Believe that you can teach us anything
